Set out below are a few tests that you can take online, on your own. From these you can get an idea on where you stand in relation a range of criteria related to positive psychology and wellbeing. They generally cover both personal and workplace situations.

The tests provide real time feedback that will help you to assess your own outlook and situation and to plan next steps. The list is not exhaustive but serves as a starting point for the enhancement of knowledge and awareness of how your state of mind has potential to impact on all aspects of your life.

University of Pennsylvania Test Centre

The resources on this site apply the principles and tools of positive psychology in a practical way. These questionnaires measure character strengths and aspects of happiness.

You can use the questionnaires freely. For each one, you’ll receive your score immediately and you’ll be able to see how it compares to the scores of others who have used the website. The site keeps a record of your scores so you can return later and see how far you’ve progressed.

Self Test Positivity Ratio

This link is to a short test that provides a snapshot of how your emotions of the past day combine to create your positivity ratio.

The test is from the book ‘Positivity’ by world renowned researcher, Dr Barbara Fredrickson.

The University of Michigan’s Center for Positive Organizations is the leading global centre for the science of designing and sustaining thriving organizations.

The CPO has developed a range of tools to help people to understand their potential.

A couple of exercises are recommended. The CPO’s Job Crafting Exercise helps you make your job more fulfilling and engaging. The Reflected Best Self Exercise is a feedback seeking exercise that helps you identify and understand your unique strengths and talents. 

9 Things Diagnostic

The purpose of the 9 Things Diagnostic is to give you a better sense of how much you’ve used each strategy in the past when trying to reach your goals, and which areas you may want to pay particular attention to.  The test is designed to accompany Nine Things Successful People Do Differently, an e-book published by Harvard Business Review Press.

The test aims to give the clearest possible picture of where your strengths and weaknesses lie, and how you can become more successful in the future.
